GEA/TUC/BUSAC HOLDS SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP TO DEEPEN THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE INFORMAL ECONOMY OPERATORS OF THE LABOUR ACT
The informal economy contributes significantly to the growth of the Ghanaian economy, but operators of this sector (employers and employees) lack adequate knowledge in the Labour Act and its provisions. With funding from the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) Fund and collaboration of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and GEA, four sensitization works have been undertaken in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and Koforidua to expose a cross section of the informal sector workers to the provisions of the Labour Act 2003 (Act 651). The organizers also exploited the opportunity to disseminate the Labour Act and its accompanying Legislative instruments (LI) to participants.
