The National Tripartite Committee declares 2019 National Daily Minimum Wage
In line with Section 113 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003, (Act 651), the National Tripartite Committee (NTC) concluded negotiations on the determination of the 2019 National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) at its meeting held on Thursday, 26th July, 2018.
The Committee agreed that the NDMW be increased by 10%. That is, from 9.68 to 10.65 Ghana cedis. The effective date for the implementation of the 2019 NDWM is January 1st, 2019.
Accordingly, the Committee directs that all establishments, institutions or organizations whose Daily Minimum Wage is below the new NDMW should adjust its wages upward with effect from January 1st,2019.
Any establishment, institution or organization that flouts the new rate shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law.
The NTC recommends that the NDMW should be tax exempt and reiterated its commitment to improve incomes and productivity in both the private and public sectors of the Ghanaian economy. Please follow the link to read the full Communique: 2019 National Daily Minimum Wage
