GEA explores the cost and causes of rising industrial disputes in Ghana.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) supported GEA to conduct a survey of Ghana’s industrial relations environment to ascertain the causes and cost of the rising disputes at the National Labour Commission. This was done to equip GEA with real time information to enable the Association embark on evidence-based advocacy and sensitization programmes to engender a harmonious industrial relations climate at the enterprise, sectoral and national level for productivity growth, business expansion and decent job creation in Ghana.
Among other findings of the survey, majority of the enterprises (i.e. 75.5%) indicated that Collective Bargaining in terms of inadequate framework and delays in negotiation of outstanding collective bargaining issues are the major cause of labour disputes in Ghana. Click to download full report
