GEA Elects New President

The Council of the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) has elected Mr. Daniel Acheampong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), as its president for the next two years. This was at its 58th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 4th October 2018, at the Kimpinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra. Mr. Acheampong who took over from Mr. Terence Darko, Managing Director of Mechanical Lloyd Co. Ltd, as the 13th President of the Association was the First Vice President of GEA.

The newly-elected president is a business magnate, administrator and a renowned HR and Industrial Relations Practitioner. He has served in VALCO for three decades, rising from HR Director to CEO. Mr. Acheampong, who was Commissioner of the National Labour Commission for Seven (7) years, has also served the interest of Employers on many boards, prominent among them is the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

As president of GEA, Mr. Acheampong will lead the advocacy actions of the Association to sustain and improve on the business environment in the country. He will also lead the Association in its engagement with government and social partners, for the determination of wages as well as economic and social matters that affect employers in Ghana.

Other executives elected at the AGM were: Mr. Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodie, Executive Chairman of CDH Financial Holdings as 1st Vice President; Ms. Victoria Hajar, Managing Director of Biney Medical Centre as 2nd Vice President and Dr. Aboasu Amponsah-Kodua, CEO of Aspee Pharmaceuticals as Treasurer.
