Members of GEA Sensitized on Cyber Security & Data Protection issues
The Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) in collaboration with Cybersecurity Authority and Data Protection Commission has organized a two-day seminar focusing on cybersecurity and data protection, reflecting the growing importance of digital security in Ghana’s business landscape. The seminar is part of GEA’s broader efforts to enhance the skills and knowledge of employers in Ghana, ensuring they are equipped to handle modern challenges in the digital era.
The opening day of the seminar looked into various topics that are crucial to safeguarding businesses and digital infrastructure, including:
- Cybersecurity Threats and Mitigation (the latest trends in cyber threats, including phishing, ransomware, and data breaches, providing strategies for mitigation and best practices for maintaining robust cybersecurity defenses).
- Incident Response and Management (the need for business leaders to prioritize and invest into a well-defined incident response plan to quickly and effectively address cyber incidents, minimizing damage and ensuring business continuity).
The second day of the seminar also delved into compliance with data protection laws, such as Ghana’s Data Protection Act, which mandates the secure handling of personal information to protect individuals’ privacy.
Through this seminar, the GEA aims to create a more secure digital environment for businesses in Ghana, helping them to navigate the complexities of cybersecurity and data protection effectively.
