Members of Publishing and Press Interests Group meet to discuss issues concerning the sector
Members of GEA in the publishing and press Interests Group met at the Association’s Secretariat in North Ridge to discuss emerging issues of interest in the sector. The hybrid meeting was attended by representatives of companies such as New Times Corporation, Buck Press Limited, DDP Outdoor Limited, Admedia Limited, Ghana Publishing, Innovative Printers, Sedco Publishing Limited and Fine Print Ghana Limited.
The key issues discussed at the meeting included; unregulated issuance of billboard permits, high cost of import, high interest rate, unfair competition between national and multi-national enterprises, and the need to delay the implementation of new tax policies that inherently affect the sector. Similarly, other pertinent issues revolving the competitiveness of the industry especially with regard to salary and compensation systems were discussed.
The GEA took opportunity of the meeting to orient members on a market-level salary survey it had conducted in collaboration with the ILO. The participating enterprises were also encouraged to patronize the salary survey consultancy services of the Association to enable them retain their employees, as well as remain competitive in the industry.
